Lansoprazole (Prevacid) is a Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) that is prescribed for treating ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It can also be used for ulcers caused by the prolonged use of certain nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

 

Lansoprazole (Prevacid) functions by inhibiting acid secretion in the stomach. It may be prescribed alongside antibiotics (such as amoxicillin or clarithromycin) to address specific types of ulcers. Additionally, it can be utilized for other conditions as directed by your healthcare provider.

 

Lansoprazole is indicated for: the treatment of stomach and duodenal ulcers, as well as NSAID-induced ulcers; management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), commonly referred to as acid reflux disease; treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome; and as adjunctive therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection in conjunction with antibiotics.
